Pato may miss clash against Arsenal

Brazil starlet Alexandre Pato sustained an ankle injury in Milan’s Serie A win over Fiorentina on Sunday night that is likely to keep him out of the South American giants’ friendly with the Republic of Ireland at Croke Park on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old had scored the only goal of the game when he chested down Kaka’s cross on 77 minutes before shooting past Viola goalkeeper Sebastian Frey. However, the youngster was stretchered off with a badly sprained ankle moments later, when he was tackled by Fiorentina defender Per Kroldrup in the closing stages as he sought a second goal.

“He sustained a relatively serious sprain. We need 48 hours to check the extent of the injury,” Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti said.

The Brazilian could now be a doubt for the first leg of the Champions League clash with Arsenal on February 20.
