Brazil beat Belgium 1-0
Brazil opened their Olympic campaign with a win against a nine-man Belgium team.Hernanes scored the only goal with a beautifully excecuted strike at the 79th minute just after Belgium captain Vincent Kompany had been sent off by Saudi Arabian referee Khalid Al Ghamdi for a second yellow card.
Midfielder Marouane Fellaini was also sent off after a foul with minimal contact near the end of the match. He complained to the fourth official and had to be ushered of the pitch by team-mates.
It was evident after the first half that Brazil need much improvement if they want to take home the gold medal. With both Ronaldinho and Pato in the team, the Brazilians struggled and were not able to create many chances. In the second half both Ronaldinho and Pato stepped up a notch with Pato curling a shot wide and then nearly forcing the ball home after excellent work down the left by his new teammate Ronaldinho.
Brazil face New Zealand next who drew 1-1 with China in their opening game.

Pato scores against Vietnam
Alexandre Pato scored the first goal in the 6th minute with an assist from Ronaldinho. He had a chance at the 46th minute but the Brazilian born Vietnamese goalkeeper Fabio Dos Santos denied Pato for his second.
Vietnam nearly equalised just after half-time, when striker Nguyen Viet Thang took a shot which keeper Diego Alves deflected away to safety, and again when Nguyen Minh Duc hit the goal post with a long shot.
In the 81st minute Thiago Neves, voted the best player in the Brazilian league last year, scored Brazil’s second goal.
Two minutes later, left-footed Brazilian forward Jo, who recently inked a four-year deal with English Premier League club Manchester City, found the net, but the goal was disqualified as a Vietnamese player got pushed.
Ronaldinho, according to a Vietnamese official translator, said after the match: “Tonight the Vietnamese team had a good match. The weather tonight was nice, and I liked this match very much.”
Brazilian coach Carlos Dunga said: “I’m happy with the match although we had little training. We would like to thank Vietnamese fans and the hosts for giving us a warm welcome and good preparation.”
