Alexandre Pato scores as Milan beat Zurich 3-1

Milan beat Zurich comfortably with goals by Jankulovski, Pato and Borriello. It was Milan’s first win for the season and a great start to their UEFA Cup campaign.

Carlo Ancelotti decided to play Shevchenko and Pato upfront with Borriello on the bench. In support was Kaka, Ambrosini and Seedorf, which saw Ronaldinho watch the game from the sidelines. In defense the coach opted for Antonini, Bonera, Jankulovski, Kaladze and Nelson Dida in front of goal.

Milan started the game well with Pato missing a header from Jankulovski’s cross 5 minutes into the game. Shevchenko also looked good with a strike that hit the cross bar. The relationship between Pato and Shevchenko kept the fans entertained. Kaka was excellent once again with his neat passing, giving the strikers every chance to score.

A goal didn’t come until the last minute of the first half when Kaka sent a beautiful pass to Shevchenko who hit it directly at Leoni, luckily Jankulovski was there for a second chance to put it behind the net after a deflection.

In the second half Milan looked very strong with a quick chance from Ambrosini which landed just wide of the goals.

The second goal came from a free kick which Seedorf sent to Pato and Pato put it away with no mistakes to the top corner. It was an excellent goal from Pato and left Leoni without a chance.

The third was another display of excellence. This time it was Borriello who came on for Pato. Borriello sent a powerful drive pass the keeper to give Milan a 3-0 lead.

Zurich came back with a goal from Djuric but it was too late and the game ended 3-1.
