More pressure on Pato and Ancelotti as Milan lose to Genoa

Ancelotti's job on the line

It has not been a great start to the season for Pato and AC Milan with Milan losing 2-0 to Genoa over the weekend. With the return of Kaka and with Shevchenko taking advantage of the international break, many fans and Ancelotti himself expected a win, however the results were far from that.

“The entire team did its best and played to win. We did not play badly, but unfortunately we lost. Personally I tried to do my best and during the goal scoring opportunity I had, Rubinho was very lucky. We must do well in the next game and try to win.” said Pato.

Ancelotti has demanded a win as soon as possible as Milan has not been given any points so far this season.

“This defeat weighs especially on us players. It’s a difficult moment and we must try to remain united and search for a win straight away to start again. It’s difficult to say what this Milan side lacked, it’s a bad moment. During the game I searched for spaces to free my team-mates, but the Genoa players were good to close us down. In the dressing room at the end of the game, the coach told us to remain united and that we must find a win as soon as possible. It’s the coach who takes the decisions on who has to play and if I play I try to do my best.” stressed Shevchenko.

Milan have struggled since the lost of Ronaldo due to injury and it seems like they are finding it hard to get a replacement for the Brazilian striker. Ronaldo has been heavily linked with Manchester City and the news in Brazil is that it’s already a done deal.

AC Milan face Lazio at home next week and if Ancelotti does not find a win it will be likely that he will be replaced.

Seedorf lashes out at Milan over pressure on Pato

Before Alexandre Pato joined Milan he was labelled the ‘New Ronaldo.’ Now this is a big task for any player let alone a 17 year old. However, he did live up to is name scoring in both debut’s with Milan and the Brazil.

However, since the turn of the season Pato has been under-par and Seedorf has blamed this on the constant pressure from the Club, fans and the media.

“Now we can see that it was wrong to paint this young man, at just 18-years-old, as the ‘new Ronaldo’,” the notoriously outspoken Seedorf told novantesimo.it.

“He is still young and we all have to stay close to him.

“He has had too much pressure put on him in an unjustified manner by the club and the press.

“I told everyone about this, but no one listened to me.”

Pato might start this weekend against Genoa and lets hope the pressure is not too much for him.
