Milan played ordinary football today and were on the backfoot most of the game. The height and strength of the Portsmouth side made it difficult for Milan’s defense and this showed with two goals in the box.
It looked like there was only Kaka in the midfield and everyone else was defending. Although, Inzaghi the man with the goals hit the post three times but other then Milan didn’t have many scoring opportunities. Shevchenko dissapointed again and we feel for him as he wanted to prove himself in front of an English crowd but it wasn’t to be.
Ancelotti had enough and brought on both Ronaldinho and Pato but surprisingly brought off Kaka. Ronaldinho didn’t get a touch of the ball for the first 5 minutes and Pato looked lively and should have been given a penalty but was not rewarded.
Then it all changed when Ronaldinho was given a free kick and he took adavantage of it and put pass David James. It was an excellent free kick and showed everyone that he’s still one of the best. Then more drama when a late goal from Inzaghi in injury time made it 2-2 and saved Milan the embarassment in the papers.
The difference tonight was that Portsmouth played 90 minutes of football and Milan played 15 minutes of football and the result was 2-2. Not too bad but it seems the headlines in the English press will be if the free kick should have been given to Ronaldinho but they will forget that a penalty should have been rewarded to Pato.
