Kaka, Pato and Shevchenko play well to give Milan 3 points

Milan came into the match with a two losses and needed a morale boost to keep them close to Inter and Juventus. In the first half Milan looked strong with Kaka, Pato and Shevchenko moving well in attack.

The attack started in the 8tth minute when Pato nearly put the ball through to Shevchenko but the defender read it well. Again Pato’s free kick into the box was hit well by Maldini who was denied by the post.

Catania had their first chance when a mistake by Gattuso nearly cost Milan a goal but was saved by the post.

Milan again were on the attack, this time with Kaka who beat three defenders but was denied by a finger tip save by the keeper, who pushed the ball against the post. Pato then found Emerson from a corner kick but his header went over the crossbar.

Shevchenko moved well and looked more involved then he did in the last few games. However, his desperation for a goal cost Milan a few chances infront. Both times he had Kaka and Pato in the box but chose to go for goal and both occasions was far from the target.

In the 37th minute Kaka’s counter found Shevchenko who learnt from his mistakes earlier and tried to find Kaka in front of goal but the defense was able to kick it out for a corner kick.

Milan were very unlucky to end the first half without a goal but they did not wait long in the second half to make another attempt with Kaka just striking it too high.

Pato came very close to scoring with an excellent powerful free kick that was saved by the keeper. It was not until the 65th minute that Milan’s hard work paid off when Pato’s corner kick found Kaka who made no mistake and with the help of Lorenzo Stovini beat an unlucky Bizarri.

Catania nearly equalised but Abbiati did well to keep Milan in front.

Milan played an excellent game and looked very strong. Hopefully they can keep this level when they meet Juventus. Although, they will be without Gattuso as he was handed a yellow card late in the game
