Pato fit to face Catania on Sunday
Pato sustained a rib injury after beinh knocked by Palermo’s keeper yesterday. However, Ancelotti has said that Pato should be fit to play on Sunday against Catania.
Milan find themeselves in third place behind Inter and Juventus. Only two weeks ago Milan for on top and were unable to maintain their spot after drawing with Torino and losing to Palermo.
Ancelotti wants his side to learn from the poor performance against Palermo.
“It´s a hard loss at an important time in the league,” admitted Ancelotti. “We lacked aggressiveness, we were too slow and fearful.
“When we don´t play well we are unable to get a result and we should always take command on the pitch. We hope this slip will be a lesson to the team and will allow us to react and start another positive run.”
I think Milan need to find some pace in the midfield if they want to win against Catania.
Palermo vs AC Milan Highlights
Milan are now 6 points behind league leaders Inter Milan after another poor display by Milan. Pato had a few chances but was not able to compose himself to find the back of the net. Pato was also given a penalty which Ronaldinho failed to convert.
Palermo played excellent football and deserved the win but Milan should have not lost 3-1. Galliani and Ancelotti need to defintely look at buying in January if they want to compete for the Scudetto.
Milan need a defender who can combat headers. The last few goals conceded were headers and Milan do not have a defender with height and strength in the air. This is where Manchester United are strong as they have Rio Ferdernand, Carrick, O’Shea and Fletcher.
Milan also need another Gattusso, a player who’s workrate is 200% for 90 minutes. Without Gattuso in the squad, Milan look lazy in midfield and without Kaka Milan don’t even look like a top class team.
Ancelotti needs to stop changing the starting line-up. This will give them the opportunity to become comfortable with eachothers playing sytle. This is especially important when you think about all the new players who have joined this year, Ronaldinho, Flamini, Zambrotta, Senderos and Boriello. Now thats nearly half the team. Benitez kept rotating the players and looked where it got Liverpool, nowhere.
