Milan lose more ground to league leader Inter as they draw against Genoa
It looked like we were going to win today after Beckham bent it like Beckham to give Milan the lead at the 33rd minute. The trademark goal came at the right time for Beckham as England coach Fabio Capello was watching the game from the stands.
Carlo Ancelotti left Ronaldinho on the bench again and chose to play Seedorf and Kaka behind Pato. The duck made some great runs and showed his speed but was literally held back by the defenders. He let his frustration be known to the Referee as no yellow cards were shown. Kaka and Seedorf did not look as sharp as they did against Bologna which really hurt us upfront and Pirlo’s free kick hit the crossbar and the other was denied by the keeper. The first half ended with Abbiati making a spectacular save after a free kick was awarded at the edge of the box.
In the second half Milan looked a bit tired and were not able to create anything. Twenty minutes before time Ancelotti decided to go with a more defensive line-up replacing Beckham, Pato and Seedorf with Flamini, Ronaldinho and Senderos.
Milan’s only real chance in the second half was from a Ronaldinho free kick which was deflected away by Rubinho. After that it was all Genoa and Ancelotti’s decision to substitute Pato looked like a bad one. In the 88th minute what looked to be was to be as Genoa equalised devastating the fans and Milan as they moved further away from Juventus and Inter.
Milan are now 8 points from league leader Inter who beat Catania tonight.
