Pato’s dream comes true as he scores twice to lead Milan over Madrid

Pato hugs coach Leonardo

It looked to be a day where Real would walk all over Milan, as a mistake from Dida in the first-half gave Madrid an early goal. Most of us were ready to turn off the tele but thought we should see the rest of the game, considering Milan played pretty well throughout the first half.

In the second half, Milan looked to be defending more then they were attacking and Madrid looked destine to score. Then from nowhere, a screamer from Pirlo silenced the crowd and most weren’t aware what had just happen. It was a goal!!! All of a sudden it was all level and now we had a game on our hands.

Then four minutes later Pato scored after a mistake from the dependable Casillas. With Milan in front I didn’t want to get too excited as Milan have a habit of giving up the lead. I wasn’t wrong there, ten minutes later the persitent Drenthe scored from outside beating the crowd of players in front of the keeper. My heart sank but somewhere I knew we would find the winning goal. In the 86th minute Thiago Silva rose to the occasion to head in a goal from a corner but to the ref it was an infringement.

Four minutes left of regular time and it looked like we were going to walk away with a draw. Although I still had hope, as the lazy Ronaldinho and the inconsistent Seedorf seem to have woken up from their nap and both made some nice plays. In the 88th minute Seedorf crossed the ball over to Pato who hit it on the volley passed Casillas to make it 3-2. It was a dream for Pato to play at the Santiago Bernabeu but it was a dream come true to score two goals in such a stadium.

Alexandre Pato ended his goal drought last night as he scored the winner against Roma. During a difficult time for Milan, Pato made sure that Milan walked away with all three points to put them in the top half of the table.

After the game Pato thanked Ronaldinho for setting him up for an easy goal and thanked Leonardo for believing in him.

“I always want to do very well for this team, and I feel that I have achieved this tonight,” Pato stressed to Sky in a post-match interview.

“A lot has changed for us over the past two weeks, and tonight we are very happy and satisfied with this victory.

“Doing well here, hopefully means a return to the Selecao for me, but I must I say thanks to Ronnie, as he played me in front of the goalkeeper.”

“I was sure that we would bounce back tonight. We had a great week of preparation for this match, and the results have proven this.

“I would like to thank my coach Leonardo, because he has given me the confidence to improve this season.”
