AC Milan vs Real Madrid Highlights
AC Milan and Real Madrid draw
Another big game for AC Milan and it was highly anticipated that Pato would deliver again on centre stage. The game started with an excellent tempo and it was Madrid who had the early chances but nothing to really trouble Dida.
The ground was slippery and a mistake in looked inevitable but it was the goalkeeper Dida who made the mistake to give Madrid the early lead. A Kaka strike from just outside the box was fumbled by Dida and fell in the path of Benzema, who put it behind the net at the 29th minute. It was Madrid first goal at the San Siro in 53 years and Benzema’s first for Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Although we were down, Milan’s track record of coming back from behind was clear in our minds. At the 35th minute Zambrotta’s cross hit Pepe’s hand and Milan were awarded a lifeline. Ronaldinho stepped up to the task and powered it into the top left corner.
Minutes later Pato beat Arbeloa and put it pass Casillas and it looked like Milan were well on their way to another memorable victory, but the stupid ref decided to penalise Pato for handball or foul. To be honest not sure why the goal was dissallowed, even after watching the replay several times. Anyway, the ref gave us a questionable penalty so I let it slip.
I was hoping for the same tempo in the second half but both teams looked lifeless. Passes were poor and plays were scrappy. The crowd lost interest and so did I. The ref was still making poor decisions and luckily for us it was against Madrid.
Both Managers decided to make some changes around the 75th minute, with Madrid bringing on old timers Raul and Van Nisterooy for Higuain and Benzema and Milan brought on super Pippo for Boriello. The change made a positive impact on the game as Pippo had two excellent chances but was unable to convert. The ended 1-1 giving Milan the point to keep them on top of the table.
